This book contains hundreds of color photographs, mostly by Pulitzer prize winning photographer Robin Hood, of the people who made, used, and cherished quilts. The author interviewed hundreds of old time mountain quilters, as well as many newcomers, in presenting this warm, empathetic book on the country's favorite folk art. After over 12 years on the market, this book is more popular than ever and is now sold throughout the country and in many foreign countries.

It contains some 300 photographs, not only of various types of baskets, but of old-time, traditional, and contemporary basket makers as well. Like Irwin's A People and Their Quilts, this book has become more popular over the years and is distributed internationally.
