Armuchee Bluegrass Festival

Your web page brings back memories of a Labor day fest my wife and
daughter attended while visiting family in Rome. We had promised my
daughter a birthday gift of a trip to Ralph Stanley's festival in
Virginia that weekend, but were bequiled by a sign on Rt 27 and pulled in
to see what was happening. We never got to Virginia, but enjoyed
ourselves so much we stayed the whole weekend at Armuchee (we say
Amurchee)! There was a group called The Golden River Grass with Doodle on
the bluegrass harmonica, and a guitar player with an inexaustible
repertoire who enthusiastically dragged my daughter around to all the
jams. It seems that (this was about 1978 or so)no one had seen a girl
high school junior who played the fiddle, banjo and guitar, and no one
would believe it. They kept asking when would the fiddler she was holding
the fiddle be back!
