North Georgia Bluegrass Pioneers

Murray Freeman

Murray Freeman is a long-time performer of Bluegrass Music in North Georgia. He is a member of the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame and has received numerous awards for his contributions as leader of the Ridgerunners and most recently has joined forces with daughter Connie Freeman Morris in Georgia Bound. He has been the subject of a paper - North Georgia Bluegrass Pioneers - Fifty Years of Bluegrass Music 1950-2000 - presented by Mike Fleming and Bill Brown at the 2002 International Country Music Conference and the resulting publication of that paper in the August 2003 Bluegrass Unlimited - the international bluegrass music publication. He will be featured prominently in the 2005 digital publication "North Georgia Bluegrass - 1950-2000" with an interview, music, and photos.
