- John Rice Irwin's Museum of Appalachia contains a collection
of more than 30 authentic log cabins and buildings including a gristmill,
a school, a church, barns, smokehouses, and cabins--all dating from the
late 1700's to the early 1900's. Gardens are surrounded by split rail fences;
cattle, mules, sheep and goats graze in the pastures near a huge cantilevered
barn.
