I look forward to an enjoyable 2002 and getting to spend a bit more time

Bluegrass 5

It was so nice to see an article on J.N. and Onie. They were some of the
best people that I've ever met and played with, back around 1976 when I
was a student at Emory. I learned so much from them and Joel and Earlene
Aderhold. But I'm still trying to master J.N.'s mule imitation from
Johnson's Old Grey Mule 25 years later!

Enjoyed this site!

Dr. Brown,
As a person who LOVES music in general, and having grown up listening to
my dad play the guitar my whole life, I thouroughly enjoyed looking at
this site. It was very informative, and an overall well-organized and
developed site.
An interesting bit of information for you. Several weeks ago at my church
we had the pleasure of having Larry Beasley play his banjo and sing for
us. He did several numbers, and it was wonderful! As I'm sure you know,
he used to play with Bill Monroe.
Again, a very enjoyable, informative site to browse.
Sincerely,
Tennille H. Hill

Sincere Appreciation

Bill,
You continue to amaze me! I have been so impressed with all you have done
the past few years promoting Bluegrass music and the bands and festivals
in North Georgia. The information you have provided has brought everyone
mentioned further recognition in the public's eye. And I have just
visited your archives section in the "North Georgia Bluegrass
Chronicles". What a work of art and a great tribute to the musicians who
contributed to the music's popularity in our area. I know it's a lot of
hard work on your part but please know that your efforts are deeply
appreciated by all. And I look forward to additional information being
added, especially to the Archives section. My dad, Murray Freeman, was
really honored that you included him. And, of course, he was influenced
by many people, including The Baxters!

Congratulations!

Just a brief note to say thanks for a great beginning. As a native
Atlantan who now resides in Texas, I long for the times when I was at a
bluegrass festival almost weekly. I have some great memories that begin
with Bill Monroe, EArl Scruggs, Mac Wiseman, Little Roy...a bluegrass
review that visited Emory University during my freshman year. I had
already been exposed but then I was hooked, playing with a few BG bands
myself. With my family roots in Cumming, I am particularly interested as
this site develops. Good luck, and thanks!

Thank you for your talented work and contributions to the enhancement of
Bluegrass. I love the photo of The Bluegrass Five circa 1965, and am
proud to say I was there. The Bluegrass Five was our "Flatt & Scruggs" in
the west Georgia area and were on the cutting edge. I think Onie is one
of the finest harmony singers of all time. I'm thankful to call all the
original members friends. They were regulars at the Bullsboro Festival

Sooooooooo many thanks

Hi Bill, just wanted to drop by and tell you how much we appreciate the
hard work you have put into the Armuchee site. You really made Mom and
Dads day when I showed them all the pics and nice things you said about
us. He is fast to tell everybody your remarks " Bill Brown said I did a
good job playing 'Raggedey Anne', he even put it over the internet where
thousands can read it". So you are crowned king in his book.
Bill, another thanks for gathering info on Armuchee, I have news
clipings, photos and flyers from every festival we have produced. Those
"vintage" flyers list bands that have went on down the road but some are
still with us. Mother has a quilt she made for the 20th year, that had
all the bands with the signature emboardried
of each band member and instrument each one played. She added more
squares onto it for the 25th year to make a kingsize quilt. It really is
quite remarkable, she put a lot of love into it. We have a "Knowing" in

Lots of good bands this year, to many to list them all. But, here are a

I loved the Site and the pics of the Armuchee festival. I am just
embarking on the Bluegrass journey as a flatpickin' fool. I have plpayed
guitar for seven years or so and I am looking to meet with other more
experienced platers that can teach me some of the standards. If anyone

grateful. Also, are there any good compilations or people that do

Armuchee Festival

Thanks....A site to behold...You did a magnificent
job in making this available. It was a wonderful time/ I met Mike Puckett
for the first time. He
was the young man with the really high lonesome voice and the old beat-up
Yamaha guitar that
sounded like an old 28. I wish I had a band and
I wish he was in it. Keep an eye peeled for this
picker. It was great to see old friends and meet
new ones... Wished you could have been there...

great pics

Hi Bill, nice job with the pictures. I come from RI and hope to get to a
southern festival someday but until I do it's nice to know I can at least
get a glimpse at your web page.

THE FESTIVAL

Great job, Bill. Photos look great. Wish I could have made it, but since
I couldn't, your rendition was the next best thing. Keep up the good
work!

Armuchee BGF

Great Page! Great memories! Hi, I'm Martin Thomas. I was a founding
member of Sweetwater Creek. I'm in PA now and could not attend to show. I
was thinking of doing something similar, looks like fun!
