Topic: Thunder Storms

Question guiding the project: How do thunder storms from and what takes place during them?

Overview of the three required learning activities:
1) Make a web site
2) Visit a weather station channel 2
3) Make a video

Findings (list):
1. Every thunderstorm needs moisture, unstable air, and lifts to form.
2. All thunderstorms are dangerous.
3. Lightning occurs with all thunderstorms.
4. Radars are used to track thunderstorms.
5. There are different types of thunderstorms.
a) plain thunderstorms
b) severe thunderstorms
c) very severe thunderstorms
6. Thunderstorms occur everywhere in the U.S.

Conclusion: How was question answered: Thunderstorms form in dark, towering cumulonimbus clouds. They always need moisture to form the clouds and rain, unstable air that is relatively warm that can rise rapidly, and lifts. Air rushes up and down in the clouds, building up static electricity. The electricity eventually discharges in an enormous spark up to several miles within a cloud, bewteen a cloud and air, or bewteen a cloud and the ground. This is called lightning. Thunder is caused by the air suddenly heating and expanding from lighting.

Questions raised for further study:
1. What is the difference in severe thunderstorms and just plan thunder storms?
2. What is the most common thunder-storm?
