Topic: Constellations

Question guiding the project: How are constellations named?
 
Overview of the three required learning activities:
1. fernbank
2. Found 25 web sites over the internet
3. Talked to Dr. Jaikle from West Georiga over the phone(he didn't have time for an appointment)
 
Findings (list):
1. Sagittarius was a centaur throwing an arrow(greeks),and he was said to have accendently killed himself with one of Hercules' arrows.
2. Aquarius he represents Ganymede who was carried to heaven to act as a cup bearer to Jupiter.
3. Pices surprised by Typhon sought safty in the water and were changed into fish, and in roman mythology it was venus and cupid who jumped in the water and were saved by fishes.
4. Virgo was said to have lived before man sinned and taught him his duties.
5. Scorpio was the scorpion that was sent by Diana that killed Orion after he bragged that he could kill every animal on earth(greek).
6. Aries was a mother to helle and she gave her son t a ram with a golden fleece, and later Zues sent the ram to be in the heavens as a consellations.
7. Taurus according to the greek was the bull which carried Europas across the sea, and Jupiter raised him to the heavens
8. Cancer was a crab that bit the heel of Herculies and was placed into the stars by his enemy Hercules.
9. Gemini represents, says the greeks, the two sons of Leda and Jupiter.
 
Conclusion: Was hypothesis proven correct, or incorrect - OR how was question answered: Constellations were named by ancient Greeks or Romans millions of years ago.
 
Questions raised for further study:
1. Who will name the new constellations of the future?
2. Are there any other constellations that humans don't know about in other gallixes?
3. Are there any unnamed constellations?
