Harrison WorldLAB Symposium

Topic:Raptors

Group Members:Patrick and Natalie

Question guiding the project:What was the purpose of raptors in the dinosaur society

Overview of the three required learning activities:
1.Fernbank
2.Webpage
3.Survey

Findings (list):1) The velocaraptor was one of the more intelligent of the raptor species.
2) Velocaraptors were one of the first groups of life to hunt in packs

3) Velocoraptors used strategie and numbers to hunt

4) Velocaraptor was the first living organism to have a retractable hooked claw which today resembles a dogs due claw

5) Velocaraptors hunted larger prey which balanced the food chain

6) Velocoraptors were considered scavengers and helped dispose of dead carcasses which helped prevent desease

7) Velocoraptors said to be ancestors of birds

8) Velocoraptors were the last survivors of the crestacous period

Conclusion: Velocoraptors preyed upon larger animals in packs using a intelligent stratagy. This kept the dinosaur population balanced. They also were the scavengers that fed on dead carcasses lowering the risk of desease. Velocoraptors may be the only living proof of the dinsour society in the form of birds.

Questions raised for further study:
1) What was their main diet?
2) Did they show territorial characteristics?
3) How did they care for thier young?
4) What were there breeding habits?
5) Was the female or the male more dominant?
6) Was there one leader in a pack?
