Selected as Outstanding Classroom Teacher by Tennessee Education Association (one of nine statewide) 1976. Placed in top five three times with classes in state-wide Tennessee Medical Association competition. Basketball coach three years in Manchester and assistant girl's coach four years at Feldwood. Coordinated system-wide science fair eight years at Manchester. League of Independent Fulton Educators 1979 - 84. Chairman of Teacher Interest Committee 1981-83. Nominated for Presidential Science Award 1983. Developed curriculum for students with learning disabilities in conjunction with Old Stone Fort State Park in Manchester, Tennessee and also earth science curriculum at Feldwood. Developed CHEM I program at Shiloh. Sponsored Astronomy club at Feldwood and Science Club and Science Olympiad at Shiloh. Nominated as Outstanding Classroom Teacher at Shiloh 1987. Have supervised student teachers from MTSU, Georgia State University and the University of Georgia. Numerous professional presentations.

Served on the Secondary Science Mentoring Team and Secondary Science Screening Board for the selection of candidates for the secondary science education program at UTK, 1987 - 90. Chair - Fall 1989.
