531 Elementary Education - Science Methods

Course Description:
531 Teaching Science in the Elementary and Middle Schools: Recent trends in methods, materials, and content in teaching elementary school science. Preq: Course in teaching elementary science or consent of instructor. (3 semester hours)

Text: No formal text will be required. Portable document format (pdf) documents will be downloaded from appropriate initiative (No Child Left Behind legislation), standards (NSTA and TN Science Framework), and accrediting (NCATE) sites. In addition, documents for classroom use and a list of references (virtual and paper) will be produced as part of the requirements for this class.
